Andrea Maglione
About me: I am a Brazilian pediatric physical therapist and PhD student passionate about advancing neurorehabilitation for infants and children with neurological conditions. During my master’s degree, I investigated the metabolic mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases, strengthening my foundation in neurophysiology and disease mechanisms. Today, my research focuses on motor control, neuroplasticity, and non-invasive neuromodulation, intending to develop evidence-based interventions that improve function, participation, and quality of life for children with neurodevelopmental disabilities. Over the past 10 years, I have worked extensively in pediatric rehabilitation, with clinical experience spanning early detection of developmental delays, early intervention, and rehabilitation for children with a wide range of neurological conditions. I have had the privilege of working at some of the largest and most recognized rehabilitation centers in São Paulo, Brazil, where I learned the importance of combining scientific evidence with compassionate, family-centered care.
What motivates me: What inspires me most is the opportunity to help children reach their fullest potential during the earliest stages of development. I believe that every child deserves access to the best available therapies, and that advances in neuroscience should translate into meaningful improvements in everyday life for children and their families. By bridging research and clinical practice, I hope to contribute to innovative, evidence-based interventions that create new possibilities for children at risk for neurodevelopmental disorders and help build the brightest future they can achieve.
