Maureen Boxrud, BA
Position title: Community Partner
About me: My past role as research study coordinator in the Gillick Lab for 10 years gave me the opportunity to not only participate in the coordination of Dr. Gillick’s research, but also to be inspired by Dr. Gillick’s passion to help children reach their functional milestones, but also their own personal goals impacting their quality of life. I am currently a Life Engagement Coordinator and I consistently utilize the many life lessons I learned from my role in Dr. Gillick’s Lab. I am excited to have a role in the lab as a community partner.
What motivates me: As a research study coordinator, I had the honor to work with and be inspired by hundreds of families. While each child was experiencing their own unique journey, all parents shared powerful advocacy for their children. Even more impactful were the lessons taught to us by the children and young adults who embrace their journeys and generously donate their time and enthusiasm while participating in research studies. When asked, “What motivates you?” I think of the many children who told us that they chose to participate because ‘This research might help other kids in the future”.
